Sound Advice: Cleveland Courthouse and City Hall
It has been about 10 years since the professional sound and entertainment specialists of Troy Entertainment had first arrived on the scene producing weddings at Cleveland Court House and Cleveland City Hall. Since then there have been some interesting articles written about the so called "Truth" about sound at these venues. So as a service to those who love the ambiance of these majestic structures lets start by dispelling misleading information about sound correction and acoustical challenges.
When researching previous articles on the acoustical challenges of the Cleveland Courthouse and Cleveland City Hall you will find an earlier article suggesting the use of a "Bose Sound System". This is a common name brand that consumers know, so if it sounds good in my living room, why not? The theory behind the Bose approach to sound distribution is simply this. Bose had taken the conventional approach to sound distribution, which is having a speaker projecting the sound pattern direction forward, and placed it upwards so as to disperse the sound pattern evenly across the sound field. That's it, simple and nice in your living room while watching a movie, right? The fact is at Cleveland Courthouse and Cleveland City Hall your challenge is not distributing sound. In fact, if you push sound in this method it ECHOES MORE!
Then later the "Truth" article was suddenly changed to suggest the acoustical challenge must be met by using a Bi-Amplifying speaker systems. This method stated that by having a separate mid and high frequency cabinet placed on a pole at 6 foot high will project sound across the room thus everything will be heard clearer. Any sound reinforcement professional will tell you that throwing sound further or raising the volume will bounce sound off the walls and ceiling in a endless loop creating a muddy sound or worse.
Troy Entertainment produces weddings at Cleveland Courthouse and Cleveland City Hall almost on a weekly bases for over a decade. Their highly trained sound, lighting, and music programming staff are there to help you to a successful event. In fact, the owners and sales staff managers at A Taste of Excellence Catering have used Troy Entertainment for their own family weddings at these venues. Not because we have a magic fix for the acoustical challenges of these beautiful venues. They just know a few more things then the average DJ about sound AND equally important "can pack your dance floor".
As you do your research for your Cleveland Courthouse or Cleveland City Hall wedding you'll notice DJ's that claim to have successful events at these venues do not show you videos of the actual weddings. At best, you may see a video with the sound either replaced or added into the video directly from the mixer as to fool you into believing this is how it sounded. Troy Entertainment has done more events in these venues and has more videos online from weddings at these venues than any DJ company in Cleveland. They can also provide you with "video interviews and testimonials with brides and grooms AT their Cleveland Courthouse and Cleveland City Hall Weddings"!
Troy Entertainment offers the best in decor lighting options for these venues as well. Uplighting that is battery operated so that we are not limited to where we can place fixtures and eliminate trip hazards and unsightly cords. Unlimited color options and the ability to project higher on the pillars and arches. Your ceiling can be washed in beautiful color to match you wedding color scheme. Don't be lured by free lighting, no one can match the quality of decor lighting fixtures Troy Entertainment licensed lighting technicians provide.
Ask to see the beautiful sharp custom monograms projections for the dance floor. There is no one else that uses their method of monogram projection.
See videos from Cleveland Courthouse and Cleveland City Hall over the years. There are 100's of examples of pictures and videos available for review online and at the new TROY ENTERTAINMENT SHOWROOM. Connect with Troy Entertainment today and see and hear the difference.

Cleveland Wedding DJ Mixes Formality With Fun
Being asked to DJ some elaborate Cleveland weddings has been the norm for the last several years. but every once in awhile we come across a couple that wants their wedding reception to be both formal and fun. Such is the case with Maria and Justin at The Cleveland Akron Hilton in Fairlawn. We were excited to work with Wedding Coordinator and friend Eileen Benson, Photographer Carrie Nelson and the wonderful staff at The Hilton Akron Fairlawn
A well planned wedding reception starts with decor. The right lighting and decor, floral, and even furniture can transform the well laid out room into a masterpiece. You'll want to complement your well appointed and decorated ballroom with excellent catering and service.
However, after they ooh and awwh over the centerpieces and enjoy a great meal, it's all about the fun you can create. Everyone's idea of fun is different, but a talented and experienced disc jockey can get the maximum out of your guests, keep the event flowing, and the dance floor packed.
Take a look and the pictures of this beautiful wedding and the fun video of this party. This was the perfect mix of formality and fun for this couple and their guests, Don't take our word for it, we'll provide you with contact information for them and any of our recent clients.
We want to thank Maria and Justin for making us part of their big day. We hope to see them on a dance floor somewhere again soon!

Weddings In Cleveland feature article still holds true today!
From time to time we all do house cleaning on our computers and delete files or folders we don't need or value more than the space they take up on our hard drive. While browsing thru My Documents folder I have to say it was a lot of fun looking back at the events we have done, pictures we took, and the press we received over the years. As I scrolled thru the files by name I found this gem below...an featured article that was published in Weddings In Cleveland Magazine in 2007. Funny thing is that this still holds true today. Over 9 years later this remains our path to success, niche, and mindset:
CLEVELAND DJ Entertainment & Event Production -- TROY ENTERTAINMENT
With a passion for entertaining the only thing the staff at Troy Entertainment loves more is the people they have performed for. If you have met Pete Troy, founder of Troy Entertainment, you’ll better understand why his company is on the recommended list of the majority of halls, hotels and party centers. “Personality, Organization…and someone who will make their event fun are the things today’s brides and grooms are telling us they want most” said Pete Troy as he attempts to keep his hand on the pulse of what people truly want. “Our clients appreciate the peace of mind we provide throughout the entire experience. Specifically, the attention they receive working directly with the owner of the company. I personally assist every client in the planning process, and we are the on-site event directors to the affair. They really value that relationship”.
“There is nothing more rewarding than to be asked to provide the entertainment for the friends, relatives and family members of our past clients. Creating return referrals and building long lasting relationship is something we have always been grateful to achieve. During this past year alone we have been asked to entertain at several weddings that were planned for family members of the management of local halls, hotels and country clubs. These are the people that see entertainment each week throughout the year. We are truly honored to have been selected for these extraordinary events”.
Mr. Troy and his staff have a history of credits and accolades within Cleveland’s media too. They have been featured in the Plain Dealer, Scene Magazine, and Sun Newspapers as well as interviewed on local television news and nationally released video wedding planning guides.
Keys to success: “Everyone wants to have fun. However, fun means different things to different people. We create a fun fit for each event. By utilizing a custom timeline, event preferences and personalized music programming, we are able to achieve a pleasurable balance of entertainment and hospitality.
Keys to selecting entertainment: “One would assume most DJ’s will have music and good equipment. With today’s technological advances that is the somewhat the easy part. However, the most important trait of a good DJ is not measured in megabytes, watts or ohms. It’s having the ability to think on your feet. Knowing what to play, when to play it and who you’re playing to!” says Pete. “So that being said what really separates DJ’s from one another is talent and experience…and the only way to judge talent and experience is by ones track record. It all comes down to their proven ability to create a fun and festive atmosphere. This is what we offer to all of those who are looking for quality entertainment. Our enthusiasm is contagious. I still find myself at these great events thinking ‘I can’t believe this is my career’ I’m truly fortunate”.
If you are not familiar with Troy Entertainment they would like to invite you to experience the difference in a non-committal informal setting. First, visit their website at www.troyentertainment.com . Feel free to browse the pages of their site, and while your there fill out the “contact us” form. You’ll be responded to quickly and cheerfully. Then take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to meet them in person and explore the possibilities. Its sound advice…you’ll be glad you did.

Cleveland Wedding DJs Rock The House of Blues
Being a high energy Cleveland wedding DJ we receive requests to create fun and exciting theme weddings. This time our couple had a vision of a Rock Concert Theme. From the venue they chose The House Of Blues Cleveland to the nusic for the grand entrance "Helion and Electric Eye - Judas Priest" to the last song of the evening "For Those About To Rock - AC/DC" this wedding rocked! The tables names were represented by rock album covers of the 70's which I thought to be really creative. Our bride Janeen's son's band called The Outer Waves performed songs of The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin to name a few. We enjoyed the opportunity to help make this vision come to life threw music and preparation with the venue, photographer, and our guests of honor. There was plenty of dancing and a high energy feel in the room as we ended the show with everyone crowded in front of the stage for the send off of the bride and groom. Pictures of the event can be seen below and on our Facebook page. The following week we did a Halloween themed wedding and right after that party we received a call to perform at a Harry Potter themed wedding, we'll let you know all the fun things we whip up for that one next summer. So themed wedding are in and creativity can make for a welcome change from the traditional themes for you and your guests. Cleveland Courthouse Wedding DJ
This Saturdays wedding was extra special to me. Taking place a the Cleveland Courthouse working with the caterers at A Taste of Excellence I met the bride Ari when she was just 3 years old. You see I was the head DJ and Promotion Director at the Cleveland Beach Club in the Flats. Ari's mom Myrna worked there too. She would bring Ari into the club during the day visiting to chat with then manager Scott. After all these years it is an honor and privilege to be chosen to entertain friends and acquaintances from so long ago. Ari & Zack had an amazing wedding at the Courthouse. There was lots of love in the room for the two and everyone packed the dance floor the whole night threw. See all the action on video on our Facebook page.

Cleveland Wedding DJ's at Troy Entertainment give you the Top 5 Wedding Trends of 2015
So as another Cleveland wedding season approaches our Cleveland wedding dj's take a look at the top wedding trends of 2015. Below is what we found. Are any of these making their way to your wedding plans?
1.) Wild West or Barn Weddings
Leather accents, cowhide rugs, and wildflower bouquets. A relaxed atmosphere. We recently did a bridal event at The Mohicans Grand Barn. What a unique venue it is. Couples can have their ceremony overlooking the Mohican forest then proceed to celebrating their nuptials in the Grand Barn. The property even boasts it's own Tree House Brewery and the bride and grooms spend their wedding night in a private Tree House!
2.) Macrame
A relaxed atmosphere. Your BOHO wedding. Backyard or open field settings with picnic style seating. Keep the colors bright and festive, yet earthy. Mismatched bridesmaids gowns and hand drawn maps with your invites.
3.) Drone Wedding Photos and GoPro Videos
Want to see your wedding from every angle, even from above? Then try this trend. Google Drone Wedding Video and see this trend in action. Our friends at Mystic Image Photography & Video are equiped for the task.
4.) There's an App for that!
lots of couples are enlisting wedding planning help through apps like TaskRabbit for the small things, TouristEye to plan the honeymoon. All of the major registries make it easy to buy gifts straight from your phone, and Uber and Lyft ensure guests find a ride at the end of the night.
5.) Creative Food Presentations
hanging salad stations, doughnut dessert walls that double as escort cards and beer-garden-inspired stations, complete with beer steins made of ice. Ask your Caterer about creating a unique idea just for you. We recommend A Taste Of Excellence for your Cleveland Wedding Reception.
As always, we'd like to hear from you. Let us know what you think. You can also comment with your own wedding ideas or finds below.

Cool Apps for the Bride on the Go!
Had some time today to surf the web and catch up to what's new and exciting as we gear up for another busy wedding season in 2014. So...as I Googled around the net and found this cool app for both Android and Apple devices.
What I found most interesting and charming is the features of the "Wedding Countdown Widget". Unlike other apps of it's kind, when someone asks: "When is your wedding?", You can now say: "After 480 kisses!", OR "In 178,326 heartbeats!" OR "In precisely 184,072 minutes "Sharing your countdown via Email or Facebook! It's fun!, Wedding Countdown can countdown your wedding in many different units! Years, Months, Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Heartbeats or Kisses! There's more: How about a Wedding countdown that can automatically turn into an Anniversary countdown after your Wedding!
Visit http://www.sevenlogics.com/products/#wedding and tell them Troy Entertainment sent you :)
Tell me what you think these apps or any ones you found most useful for your wedding day planning?

Y'all Havin' a Good Time?
Question, what is most important to brides planning a Cleveland Wedding? The Cleveland Wedding DJ's at Troy Entertainment are told "I just want my guests to have fun and dance". Believe it or not "not falling when being introduced" is a close second. Although we may not be able to do much about brides keeping their balance, we can keep a balance of great energizing dance hits rolling to maximize participation on the dance floor and create a great vibe in the room.
How do they do it? Magic! Well sort of, we take your favorite songs and combine them with your guests requests and sprinkle in the DJ's ability to "think on their feet". Added to that it's "when you play what you play" as well as the skill set to mix them together in a logical order that works to raise the energy level. An uninterrupted beat that makes the guests scream and shout when they realize the songs change. Sounds exciting? It sure is.
We love music and know you and your friends do too. Weddings pose an interesting scenario. It's like no other event a DJ will perform at. First you have the bride & Groom and their immediate family. Then you have your bridal party and piers mixed in with your friends from college. I'm sure you'll have plenty of aunts and uncles, various relatives, neighbors and coworkers too! You may have people from different geographical areas and with different mind sets. Unless you are socially connected to these people on a weekly basis you will probably be guessing as to what makes them get up and get down. That's no problem at all. We come prepared with the experience of thousands of events.
The Cleveland Wedding DJ's at Troy Entertainment will help you create the best possible plan to get the most out of your guests. Equipped with loads of practical experience we will first meet with you and learn of your style and vision, then during the event we make ourselves approachable to your quests for requests and exude charisma.
The Cleveland Wedding DJ's at Troy Entertainment have Photo Booths, Uplighting, Monograms, Dance Floor Lighting Effects, and more. However, we are "music programmers and masters of ceremonies" first and foremost. Take a look at the video below. Listen to the crowd noise and the fun everyone is having. Hear from former brides and other wedding professionals as they are interviewed at the event here: Video Demos. Then come see us for a friendly in person consultation. This is the only way you'll know you have the right professional DJ for your once in a lifetime wedding reception. Does this all sound good? it will sound great!
Please feel free to comment or give us a call. We love hearing from visitors and chatting about weddings.

Preparedness - Are they Ready?
This weeks Cleveland wedding DJ blog post for Troy Entertainment is an observation recently made while we were on vacation. Kimberley and I were on a cruise vacation aboard the Royal Caribbean's Alure of the Seas the week of February 3rd through the 10th. Yes, that is Superbowl XLVII Sunday and if your up on current events it is also the week that the Carnival Triumph left passengers stranded for 5 days with little in the way of the vacation they dreamed of and expected.
First, if you can imagine the enormous pressure in producing an event such as the Superbowl. Housing an event of 71,024 attendees and broadcasting to over 111 million viewers globally with a 20 minute halftime show that is rolled onto and off the playing field within minutes! Shortly after the Superbowl Halftime performance of Beyonce the lights go out! was there panic, bedlam, a riot? No, the announcers equipped with earpieces where most likely informed of a situation and were instructed to stretch it out, talk through the happens of the first half, and roll to commercials, etc. while people behind the scenes worked the problem. Did they instantly know where to look and how long it would take? Probably not., but they had expert people with loads of experience on how isolate the problem, talent that can improvise to buy them time, and a contingency plan. Later they found that the issue was the "backup" power system that is used in case of power outages, lol. Neither the less, they remained calm and the show went on. How does this relate to Brides and Grooms on their wedding day? This is what "professionals" do at live events! You can plan for everything to run smooth, however you want to make sure you have the right people with talent and experience just in case the unexpected were to happen.
Later that week while we were enjoying our cruise we caught news coverage on CNN about the Carnival Triumph having a engine fire causing the ship lose electricity, air conditioning, and plumbing. If you could imagine these passengers boarding the ship expecting the times of their lives. eating, drinking, site seeing, dancing, and entertainment only to be left stranded out in the middle of the sea with little in the way of the basic accommodations Yet, when it was all over one the thing that prevailed according to interviews with passengers aboard the ship during the ordeal was that the "Staff" of the cruise line kept people calm, remained pleasant and helped in any way they could to make good out of a terrible situation. This again is something "well trained" individuals do in the event of an unexpected situation. They remained calm, worked at keeping the guests comfrtable, and kept upbeat while the other professionals on staff worked the problem.
If we learn anything relative from this it could be that when expectations are high and since the unexpected can happen it may be worth the "peace of mind" that comes with hiring professionals with proven "talent and experience" to handle your "once in a lifetime" event.
See and hear from our clients at our video demos and client interviews page. Learn more about the talented professional Cleveland wedding and event DJ's at Troy Entertainment by filing out the contact us form or calling 440.238.9480.

Wedding & Event Showcase Event Planners VIP with David Tutera
Thursday Jan 31st the Cleveland wedding DJs & lighting staff of Troy Entertainment joined Cleveland's top wedding professionals for a VIP meet & greet with David Tutera.
David, the Wedding Planner of the Stars and star of "My Fair Wedding" on WE TV did his morning show rounds at Fox 8 studios prior to arriving at Catan's Fashion in Strongsville. The event was deliciously catered by Zack Bruelle. After catching up with the who's who in Cleveland's wedding planning industry we all had an opportunity to take some photos with David.
Lines formed as preregistered brides-to-be filed in to get a change to hear David speak about Dreaming Bigger and provide tips on planning the event of a lifetime. There was a wonderfully produced fashion show of the latest in bridal gowns and Patrice Catan, owner of Catan's Fashions provided some insight as to the new and exciting things Catan's and Socially Artistic Events offers.
We provided decor uplighting and monogram gobo projection in the display rooms to give brides a look as to what can be made possible. They also had the chance to meet David and take photos as well as receive autographed promo pictures.
There were representatives of local event catering and several well respected wedding planners that we have worked with many times. It was great to be able to catch up with others after the very busy 2012 bridal season.
Afterwords, we went to dinner at J-Bella Italian restaurant with Niky and Alina of Party Decor. They are our favorite and one of the most popular companies in decor that includes table linens, chairs and covers, mandaps, and draped fabrics. As we were finishing Patrice Catan and her staff along with David Tutera had walked in to relax and enjoy a late dinner as well. So we all joined together for some stories and laughs.
Below is my photo opp with David and more can be found on the Mystic Image facebook page.

New Trendy Idea for your Cleveland Wedding!
Those that are familiar with Troy Entertainment Wedding
& Event DJ Productions know that at the start of each year we look for new
and exciting ideas. This year is no exception. Brides and grooms looking to add a splash
of fun and excitement to their wedding reception now have a new trendy option
to include in their entertainment package with our “Wedding Lantern Release”.
If you've never heard of these, here is a brief explanation:
The lanterns are airborne paper lanterns traditionally found
in some Asian cultures. They are made from rice paper on a bamboo frame, and contain
a small fuel cake composed of a waxy flammable material. When lit, the flame
from the burning fuel cake heats the air inside the lantern, thus lowering its
density causing the lantern to rise into the air. The lantern is only airborne
for as long as the flame stays alight, after which the lantern will float back to
the ground. They are very eco-friendly and they create a very dramatic effect
for all of the your guests to see.
Our Lanterns can be used during the day or night and
although colored lanterns can be used for a daytime display they still do not
match the dramatic effect of an evening release.
Another
great idea is to have your wedding guests write their own good luck messages on
the lanterns before releasing them. It is said that by writing a wish on a lantern before its release, ones bad luck; ill feeling and misfortunes are
given to the heavens. As the wedding wish lantern rises it takes away your
trouble and sends fortune & prosperity.
Feel
free to give us a call to explore this and other add-on options to your event
with Troy Entertainment Wedding & Event Productions.

Three Things That Make A Wedding DJ “Good”
What makes a wedding DJ “good”? Caring. “Caring” feeds passion. “Caring” motivates and creates action.Very little can happen without it. Talent. Defined many ways, but is easily recognized when experienced. Love. Love fuels all great performers. Unconditional Love with no expectations. That’s why they “give” a performance – it’s an act of giving. When a wedding DJ loves his/her clients everything stems from that-every action; every decision; everything.... Cleveland Wedding at the Courthouse
March 3, 2011 - One of the fabulous things about being in music and entertainment production is when are asked to perform for people you have meet a long time ago and haven't seen for years. We first met the groom (Andy Fernandez) when he was just a high school student at a teen night dance at Club Rio. He came up to the booth with his brother Bob and friend Dave. I invited them into the booth and we quickly all became friends. I also made them club representatives by having business cards with their names on it to pass out for free admission to their friends at school. The club became the place to be for young adults with over 800 in attendance weekly.
Years later We had the pleasure of doing Andy and Bob's sister Julia's wedding about 16 years ago. Then surprising enough we ran into each other while Andy, his fiance' Jennifer, and his mother Mariana were looking at the Cleveland Courthouse and A Taste of Excellence to stage the event.
Above is a picture of Jennifer and Andy's first dance in a elegantly decorated Cleveland Courthouse reception. The wedding coordinator for the event was Eileen Benson. She was a pure pleasure to work with. The bride Jennifer was stunning and everything was absolutely beautiful. They even incorporated their little chiwawa Chuey into the ceremony. The music for the reception was a blend of current pop, big 80's dance and Merengue. Everyone had a great time. I was visited many times by their guests saying that they have been to many Troy Entertainment weddings. This is one of the greatest things that frequently happens to me and my staff and we are forever grateful to have met the nicest people that give us such amazing opportunities.
The grooms brother Bob was there with his beautiful girlfriend. At the end of the reception as we were saying our goodbyes he said there might be a Tri-fecta in the future :)
We congratulate Jennifer & Andy Fernandez on their Wedding and hope them love, hope, and happens throughout their lives together.
Eventfully Yours,
Pete

Cleveland Weddings : David Tutera, SA Events, Troy Entertainment
David Tutera, the wedding planner of the stars greeted brides at SA Events/Catan's Fashions in Strongsville.
Our friend and colleague Brenda Kucinski called upon us to help enhance and beautify her showroom at Catan's Fashions in Strongsville as they launched their new and exciting SA Events. SA (Socially Artistic) offers amazing centerpieces, table linens, chair covers, napkins, LED lighting, and unique glassware to the bride that is looking for the best of the best all in one place. We set the stage to showcase their offerings with beautiful colors of pink and purple LED uplighting and illuminated the head tables beautiful iridescent fabric.
After the event started lines formed to meet David Tutera as he autographed his book and promo photos. His appearance always draws a crowd and this time was no different. We had the opportunity to meet David and work with Brenda before and admire their passion and enthusiasm working with brides to make their wedding day dreams come true. Just prior to this photo David took the time to give alteration advice to a young bride who was trying on a gown. This impressed me that he really has genuine passion for people and his craft. Brenda of SA Events has the same passion to share her expertise in the effort of making each brides vision a reality. We enjoyed the opportunity to work with Brenda, David, Patrice and SA Events, and wish them future success.
Onward and Upward,
Pete Troy
